The Society of Property Researchers (SPR) is a professional association for practising property researchers. It has a membership of over 500 individuals working in a variety of organisations; from surveying firms to independent research companies, from academics to institutions. The majority are based in the UK, but a growing number are working overseas. SPR offers its members the opportunity to network, keep abreast of current trends and update skills and provides many opportunities for interaction with people engaged not only in property research, but across the entire property industry.
SPR regularly works with other organisations to deliver seminars and conferences that are likely to appeal to the membership (eg the IPD RealWorld Conference and the UK and European Market Outlook seminars with the Investment Property Forum). In addition, the Society is pro-active in establishing working parties to investigate key issues within the property industry. Notable successes include its reports on Property Indices, Data Sources and Salaries.
A newsletter provides members with up-to-date news and views on events affecting the property research community. The Society also publishes ad hoc publications on specific issues, such as the Society`s biennial Survey of Salaries and Benefits. The Society`s Membership Directory is widely regarded as the Who`s Who of the property research profession.
The Society often serves as a catalyst in promoting industry-wide debates, and is active in encouraging links with related bodies. These include the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the European Real Estate Society, the Investment Property Forum, CoreNet Global (UK), the Bank of England Property Forum, the Association of Geographic Information and the Society for Location Analysis.
