Cathy Linacre

 

Since 1987, Cathy has worked for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a Senior Information Officer. She is systems manager for the RICS Library which involves managing the library’s IT systems. She has overseen the implementation of two new Library Management Systems and launched RICS Library Direct service, the library’s catalogue on the internet. She has taken a special interest in the information potential of the internet and has a regular column in CSM listing internet sites of use to surveyors. She also works as part of the team answering inquiries by phone, fax and e-mail.

Cathy is Chairman of the Property Information Group (PIG), an organisation for information professionals in the property world, which organises events and networking evenings. PIG is one of the SPR’s Special Interest Groups.

In her spare time, Cathy sings with the RICS Singers, a choir made up of RICS members, who get together to provide a choir for RICS events, recent ‘gigs’ have included the Benevolent Fund Centenary Service and singing for the Queen at her recent visit to the RICS.
