Cushman and Wakefield is the leading retail property advisor in Europe, with a large team providing end to end services for retailers, occupiers, landlords and investors. This UK Retail Analyst will support the Head of EMEA Retail Research & Insight and provide support to existing retail clients (retailers, developers, investors) and also help support the production of regular and thematic retail market reports.  Location analysis skills using GIS, demographic and property data will be very important. As well as strong analytical skills, the role requires a creative individual who is able to identify economic, retail and technology trends which will impact on the retail and property market in the longer term. 

Role Profile:

  • The position would potentially suit someone with a GIS background who has made/would like to make the transition to a more broadly-based retail property market analysis role.
  • The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to the EMEA Research & Insight team’s written output on the UK retail and retail property market.
  • The role provides an opportunity to build a strong public profile through regular market commentary, speaking opportunities and client work.
  • UK focus but some exposure to European/Global retail markets.

Core Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Use third party data to provide analytical support to retail teams and clients such as regional economic data, GIS analysis, floor space analysis, demographic profiling and retail impact studies using GIS.  
  • Assist the retail team, UK research team and wider EMEA research teams to provide insightful, innovative forward looking thought leadership publications.
  • Maintain in-house databases, including shopping centre development pipeline, rents and yields.
  • Continuous monitoring of retail market drivers and trends.
  • Produce regular retail market reports including shopping centre, high street and retail warehouse quarterly reports and shopping centre pipeline bi-annual report.
  • Provide pitch and presentation support to wider retail team.
  • Participate in consultancy work where required. 


  • Degree or higher level qualification, ideally in economics, geography or GIS.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Good knowledge of GIS.
  • Strong data analysis skills e.g. demographics, GOAD, property market.
  • A strong interest in UK retail and a good knowledge of the retail property market.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills essential.
  • Experience of writing and producing reports.
  • Knowledge of bespoke analytical tools e.g. Power BI.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks.

  • A pro-active / motivated attitude.
  • Excellent MS excel and Powerpoint skills.
  • Ability to source and manipulate a variety of data sets into meaningful information.
  • A creative mind-set, notably in respect of finding innovative solutions for analysing/presenting data.
